1. Performing Tahnik (Using date)
- Abu Musa narrated that a son was born to me, and I took him to the Prophet (ﷺ), who named him Ibrahim, did Tahnik for him with a date, invoked Allah to bless him, and returned him to me. (The narrator added: That was Abu Musa’s eldest son.)

- Anas said,
“On the day he was born, I took ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Talha to the Prophet, May Allah bless him and grant him peace. I found him wearing a woolen robe while he was marking one of his camels with tar. The Prophet (P.B.U.H) said, ‘Do you have any dates with you?’ ‘Yes,’ I replied. I gave him some dates. He chewed the dates, opened the child’s mouth, and put some chewed dates into the child’s mouth. The child licked his lips. The Prophet, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘The Ansar love dates,’ and gave him the name ‘Abdullah.”

2. Pay Sadaqa for the baby
- Muhammad b. ‘All b. Husain quoted ‘Ali b. Abu Talib said that God’s messenger sacrificed a sheep on the seventh day for al-Hasan and said, “Shave his head, Fatima, and give the weight of his hair in silver as Sadaqah.” So they weighed it and it amounted to a dirham or part of a dirham.

4. Give a good name to the baby
Narrated Samurah ibn Jundub (رضي الله عنه):
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Every child is in pledge for his ‘Aqīqah which is sacrificed for him on the seventh day, and he is given a name and his head is shaved.”

5. Offering Aqiqah
- It was narrated that ‘Aishah said:
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to sacrifice two sheep for a boy’s ‘Aqiqah and one sheep for a girl.”

6. Performing Circumcision
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said,
“I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying. “Five practices are characteristics of the Fitra: circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, cutting the mustaches short, clipping the nails, and depilating the hair of the armpits.”
